Don Ferguson

Men's Volleyball and Men's Soccer

Class of 2000

Don Ferguson was a pioneer - one of the first male student-athletes to attend Rivier when the college went co-ed. He played on the men's soccer team, and more importantly, was instrumental in forming the Raiders' first men's volleyball team, of which he served as captain for four years. His versatility and understanding of the game allowed him to play multiple positions on the court, but it was as an outside hitter where he flourished. In his final season, he became the first Raider in program history to become ranked nationally in hitting percentage and kills per game. Ferguson's leadership didn't stop after his years at Rivier as he continued his love for volleyball and education as the head coach for Bishop Guertin High School, Saint Anselm College and the University of Hartford. The consummate team player during and after college, Don helped build the foundation for the consistent success and excellence of Rivier Men's Volleyball. Don and his wife, Gerilyn ('01G), have two children.
